This webinar wraps the bundle in our Leadership series. Our previous webinars explored how men and women grow into leadership through the ceremonial paths that connect them to life. This next offering, Elderhood - The Completion of the Leadership Journey, guides us into the final initiation of leadership: the Elder phase.
Growing into leadership is a lifelong path. It begins with vision and passion, matures through experience and responsibility, and ultimately finds completion in Elderhood. This is the sacred stage where leadership ripens into wisdom, humility, and presence.
Historically, elderhood was recognized as a sacred initiation. It marked the time when one’s life experiences became medicine for the community, and leadership evolved from action to embodiment. The elder no longer led by striving or achieving, but by simply being, anchoring the circle through presence, perspective, and prayer.
In modern society, this final stage of leadership is rarely acknowledged. We celebrate productivity, but seldom pause to honor the leaders who have completed their cycle and are ready to guide from the heart. Yet it is these elders, whether by age, spirit, or service, who hold the wisdom that keeps our communities rooted and whole.
Elderhood is not retirement; it is remembrance.
It is the moment when what was once sought through doing becomes transmitted through being. The elder embodies what younger leaders are still striving to learn: the ability to lead without control, to teach without words, and to serve without recognition.
Healthy leadership is cyclical. When we honor elderhood, we restore balance to the circle, ensuring that the wisdom of experience guides the actions of the present, and that every generation learns from the ones before. Join us as we explore how to embody Elderhood as the completion of the leadership journey, the flowering of wisdom in service to life.
