Vermilion Articulated Film Summary
My name is Salvatore Gencarelle and I’m the founder and director of the Helpers Mentoring Society and Bison People Land. I've been inspired to develop a movie that explains the greatest challenge to life in this age - the Disconnection Sickness and how we can collectively heal. We're in a critical moment, as human beings, as we transition through this time of disconnection into the opportunity for a new way of life.
Vermilion Articulated is a movie made to share the understanding of the challenges we face and to give people hope in how to navigate and heal the Disconnection Sickness. Together we can restore humanity's relationship to oneself, to the Earth, and to one another - for the sake of all life now and for the future.
The two organizations I have created are already successful social enterprises which deliver educational programs focused on healing humanity’s relationship with self, nature, and community. Over the past four decades, I have been a bridge between traditional healing practices and the modern world. My experience includes a commitment to years of initiation and mentoring under direct supervision of a Native American healing lineage. In 2012 I published a book about my learning journey - A Man Among the Helpers.
Now, the Helpers Mentoring Society and Bison People Land team are in the process of creating a documentary film about healing the greatest disease of our age – the Disconnection Sickness.

Vermilion Articulated Film Project Budget
1. Travel & Accommodation
- Travel and accommodation: $9,000
- Filming expenses: $8,000
- European filming travel expenses: $3,000
2. Equipment & Technical Costs
- Hard drives: $900
- Software: $1,000
3. Salaries & Production Fees
- Synchronization & assistant work: $1,800
- Editing: $5,000
- Sound editing & mixing: $3,000
- Color grading & professional exports: $2,500
4. Director’s Post-Production Support
- Director’s contribution + material: $5,000
5. Promotion & Distribution
- Promotion (festival management, graphic design for posters, website & social media strategy, secretary work, sending copies, etc.): $4,000
6. Additional Footage Acquisition
- Purchase of footage previously filmed by outside companies: $6,800
TOTAL $50,000 (Current Funds raised $2,450.00 USD)
The funding goal is set at $50,000. If we don’t reach the total amount, we will still apply all contributions to completion of this project. We have already begun filming and have been funding the film project out-of-pocket. We are fully committed to the completion of this film. Your contributions will ensure that this project will be completed in a timely manner, to the highest possible quality, and will reach the widest audience.
This project is already being supported with technical expertise by people who have been touched by the teachings and healing that we provide. As this is our first film, we are learning how to work with this impactful medium. It already has been an incredible experience for the cast and crew, and we look forward to continuing the creative process. We are fully prepared to deliver a story of understanding, healing, and hope for the future in this time of upheaval and transformation.
